Dartmouth Health Atlas Data Sources March 31, 2014December 13, 20190 For more than 20 years, the Dartmouth Atlas Project has documented glaring variations in how medical resources are distributed and used in the United States. The project uses Medicare data to provide comprehensive information and analysis about national, regional, and local markets, as well as individual hospitals and their affiliated physicians. The site offers a number of tools for mapping data by community, with the user able to examine data at small levels of analysis such as by Hospital Referral Region (HRR) or by hospital. Users are able to generate their own maps and graphs based on the health metrics and regions that they are interested in examining. Each chart or report can also be downloaded as a PDF, Powerpoint, or Excel document. Charts and maps can also be embedded onto another site through the use of an iframe.
