State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) Data Sources July 2, 2014July 2, 20140 The State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) provides a web-based table generator that allows the user to create customized tables and graphs of health insurance coverage and factors associated with access to care. The user can create maps, bar charts, trends, and tables. These data visualization tools help the user to explore coverage, access to care, and access to and cost of employer-sponsored insurance within states by characteristics (i.e. age, race/ethnicity, and education level). The user can also compare across states and look at trends over time. The graphics are easily downloadable and the underlying data can be exported. Estimates are available from the American Community Survey (ACS), the Current Population Survey (CPS), the CPS (SHADAC-Enhanced) to account for changes in methodology over time, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), and the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey – Insurance Component (MEPS-IC). SHADAC also maintains the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation DataHub. Link:http://www.shadac.org/ Are you using this data source? Share your experience with it by leaving a reply below!
